Beatles White Album with no serial number

The kid I buy albums from on a regular basis was excited to let me know he had a White Album for sale, but when I inspected it I noticed that there was no serial number stamped in the bottom right corner. I own a vintage White Album that I know is authentic (handed down to me by my parents who bought it in the 70s) and apart from the stamp they looked almost identical. The album in question even had the raised 'The Beatles' on it. I'm curious, is there any significance to an album that isn't numbered? Is it just a good bootleg copy?
